Is breaking your arm a rite of passage for first grade?

Well, I knew a day like yesterday could certainly happen - I got the call at noon yesterday that Aubrey fell from the monkey bars. Nothing stops a mother's heart more than the thought of her baby sitting in pain and not being with her so I drove like a bat out of you know where to get to her. We went to the doctor and sure enough the little monkey broke both of her bones in her lower left arm (the radius and the ulna for all you anatomy buffs). She did it up good for sure!! She was so brave and my only complaint (haven't seen all the bills yet mind you) was she picked a Bronco blue cast. She will wear this cast for 3 weeks (unless she has to have surgery - please God "No!" - we will know this in a week), and then hopefully she will get a smaller cast. She is doing much better today, and I am equally as proud of her protective big sister who has been very sweet to her little sis!! Although, Taylor did say she wished she could have a cast too - I sure hope her wish does not come true I think all my gray hairs just multiplied this week!

You gotta go back to school....

Aubrey settles in to her very first desk!!! She, by the way, coordinates all her own outfits and hair accessories (she is my fashionista)!
Dad posing with his girls. I am so glad he helped me get them to school I needed someone to drive while I cried the whole way home.
I put up a pretty brave face about them going to school until I had to say good-bye.
The girls went back to school this year and I have to admit none of us was too exited about it. I think we just had too much fun playing and sleeping in all summer. Taylor started 3rd grade off with a bang and I am so thrilled for the amazing teacher she has this year (Aubrey's kindergarten teacher moved to the 3rd grade so we know her already and I know Taylor is going to have the best time in school). Aubrey started 1st grade and she was NOT excited about being gone all day. We both cried (although I waited until she was gone), but I will say she has blown me away with how well she has adjusted. She has a great teacher too, and I am so proud of how brave she is being about it. I am still getting used to the long days away from them and mourning the passing of an "era" in our house. I also look forward to the new changes in our home as we embark on this new routine but I know it will take me a while - I have had babies in the house for 8 years now. For those of you wondering what I am doing with my free time - I will let you know when I get it -hee hee. My mother-in-law had a full knee replacement and I am so thankful to have the time to help her out in this tough time of healing for her!

Taylor turns 8!

Some of our favorite cousins. Sooooo cute!!

August 22 marked Taylor's 8th bday this year! I can hardly believe it has been 8 years since she came into this world. It seems like only yesterday this high-spirited, high energy bundle of joy was being place in my arms for the 1st time. She was such a tiny little baby (5lbs 10 oz), and she had the most black dark hair! Tim was convinced he was not the father when he first saw her! She came out ready to take on the world from day one. Boy did my life change on that day - all for the good (most days - hee hee)! She is in 3rd grade this year and loves soccer if you can't tell by the party goodies in the pictures. She also loves designing "things" with legos, jumping on the trampoline, playing with her sister, and reading. We are so amazed by the bright, inquisitive little girl she is, and if nothing else she always keeps me on my toes. I love you Taylor!! Love, Mom

Catching up on August...

We really had the best summer this year! I had more fun with the girls and we were so blessed to take such fun trips and have some great guests come for a visit this summer. August, relatively speaking, was a quiet month for us but it also went by in a flash! The girls attended a drama camp this year with some friends and they had the best time putting on a modified version of the play Cinderella. I thought it would be fun to put a couple pics out of them in their play.
